Had you visited Wynwood about 20 years ago, you would’ve never imagined it being a global destination, or a 50+ block open-air museum featuring the work of Shepard Fairley, Kobra, and other legendary street artists.
Instead, you would’ve found an industrial warehouse district with small galleries, right next to several working-class communities.
When Tony Goldman saw the neighborhood, he had a vision of what it could become. As he did with SoHo (NYC) and South Beach, he bought and developed a lot of land across Wynwood and turned what was once viewed as a decrepit business area to a hip residential area with an artistic soul.
Fast-forward to 2020, and you can find Wynwood featured as one of the coolest neighborhoods in the world on Timeout Magazine. Home to the city’s best restaurants, designers, and hundreds of innovative businesses. Like Goldman envisioned, the run-down factories became canvases for world-renowned street artists, and (post-renovation) the buildings of Wynwood now house hundreds of businesses.
